Denver Headshot Session for Director of Operations

Amber stopped by the studio this week to get her headshots updated. As a busy Director of Operations for a real estate team, she had been needing to get them done for a while and I was so happy to be able to help her out!

Headshots shouldn’t be confused with a branding session. During a branding session, we will undoubtedly take some images that can be used as headshots. But it is never the other way around — thinking that a headshot session is branding — please don’t make that mistake. Branding tells a story about you and who you are and how you are the best fit for your client. Headshots are just headshots. They can be used on a business card or on a flyer or a website. But they don’t tell much of a story. And that’s perfectly fine! Headshots definitely have their purpose! And they should be quick and easy and get you a product in hand within a short amount of time.

Because headshots move quickly, it’s important to get the client to feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera as soon as possible. Amber and I were able to chat about a few things and I could explain my process and ideas and get her input as well. From there we got the camera going and she exploded into her amazing smile.

I was a little late getting Amber my style guide for her headshot session, but she was able to pull off modern professionalism with class. You can’t go wrong with classic pieces that complement your personality and that make you feel confident and empowered.

We finished off the session with a bit of movement to keep things from getting stale and it was a perfect way to end the session.

So there you have it — just a quick peek into the exhilarating world of headshot sessions. They’re quick and should be fun and easy for the client. They’re not a branding session, which involves a lot more planning and preparation. But for business cards and about pages on the website, they’re absolutely essential.
