A Quiet Kind of Love: Kaylyn & Krug’s Couples Session at Restoration Ranch

Not all love stories are loud. Some are soft and steady—the kind that grows stronger through years of service, shared values, and holding each other up through the hardest moments.

That’s exactly the kind of love I witnessed while photographing Kaylyn and Krug, the heart and hands behind Restoration Ranch Colorado.

They’re not just caretakers of the land—they’re caretakers of the mission. Both have deep roots in the military and first responder community, with their oldest son being a Sergeant and their other son being an Airborne Army Ranger, and both of their father’s being in either military or police careers. They are now leading the charge in building a healing space for first responders and their families.

And even with all of that behind them, they still hadn’t had professional photos taken of just the two of them in years. (Sound familiar?)

So when we planned their couples session at the ranch, it was a little out of their comfort zone—but in the best way. We walked the trails they’ve worked so hard to restore, stood in front of the aspen forest they love, and just let the moments unfold naturally. No awkward posing. No pressure to perform. Just two people reconnecting in a place that means everything to them.

At one point, Kaylyn turned to me and said, “This made me feel so in love.” That stuck with me.

Because here’s the thing—when life gets busy, especially when your energy goes toward helping others, it’s easy to let the romance take a back seat. But you deserve to feel seen. To celebrate what you’ve built together. To have tangible reminders that your story matters, too.
